In the USA the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has approached the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to access whether cannabis should finally be downgraded from a Schedule 1 drug to a lower schedule.

Of course we all already know that it clearly should be, but will the FDA change its tune now that support for reform is at an all time high with almost half of US states having legalised the plant for medicinal use?

The FDA has twice before been asked by the DEA to make a recommendation on cannabis’ status and both times, in 2001 and 2006, it has voted to keep it Schedule 1.
