MORNING PUFF GOES UP IN SMOKE

A morning puff on a dagga cigarette has landed a Bonnytoun man in prison.

The 47-year-old man was arrested last week by police officers on patrol.

Wynberg police spokesperson Warrant Officer Silvino Davids says officers entered the settlement just after 07:00 to conduct an ad hoc patrol. They were also searching for two suspects in another incident.

But to their surprise they bumped into a man taking a morning puff.

“We approached him and were arresting him for drug use but when we searched him we found more dagga and mandrax tablets,” Davids explains.

He was arrested for drug possession.

The man appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last week where he was denied bail and sent to Pollsmoor Prison.
