Million rand dagga bust in Sedgefield

Two men have been arrested on N-2 near Sedgefield for being in possession of dagga worth almost R1-million.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Malcolm Pojie says members of the Oudtshoorn K-9 Unit, assisted by George Vehicle Identification Section spotted a suspicious looking VW Combi in Sedgefield on Wednesday afternoon as they were travelling towards George.

He says the vehicle was pulled over, and 40 bags of dagga were confiscated.

Pojie says the two suspects, aged 24 and 26 from Cape Town, were arrested and are being held at the Knysna police station.

They are expected to appear in court on Friday.

On Wednesday 4 men from Philippi near Cape Town appeared in the George Magistrates court, after they were found in possession of 375kg of dagga and dagga seeds to an estimated street value of R525 000 rand on the N-2 near George.

Police captain Malcolm Pojie says members attached to the Oudtshoorn K-9 Unit and Vehicle Identification Section acted on information received from a member of the public, and pulled over two suspicious vehicles at Kaaimans near George on Monday morning.

He says police found 18 bags of dagga and seeds stacked inside the cabin of one of the vehicles.
