FINAL hearing for GMO #Bill113 is TUESDAY, Nov 5th at 2:00pm. The Council meets in Hilo, but you can testify from any of the satellite locations in Kona, Waimea, Ocean View, or at the Neighborhood Center in Pahoa.
Bill 113 PASSED first reading on October 16th with a vote of 6-2-1 Fresh Onishi and Greggor Ilagan voted NO, Zendo was absent, and everyone else voted in favor. Dru Kanua voted kanalua, then yes. The bill has to pass one more reading. It's time to submit written or video testimony. If you've sent in testimony before, you still need to do it again for this final round. This is the 2nd and final reading, and then it goes to the Mayor. If he signs the bill, it becomes a law. If he vetoes the bill, it comes back to Council and we testify again and they vote again. It takes 6 votes to override a veto, which we got today. If Zendo votes FOR the bill, we have 7.
