Tokyo Sexwale has substantial shareholding in MSP Developments, the company that wants to develop the Philippi Horticultural Area. PHA (farms & wetlands) produces 100,000 tons of fresh produce for CT markets per annum. The plan awaits final approval by Western Cape MEC for local Govt. Anton Bredell, but Residents have gone to court to block him from giving the go-ahead (y) :

This a good piece and links political heavy weights –COSATU and Tokyo Sexwale- to the land grabs in the PHA. If they don’t know the impact of their investments in the PHA, they do now. Its time they reassess their position on building houses in the PHA. There is other land available in the city. Thank you Sunday Times for taking this story into the national domain.
In terms of crime in the PHA: SAPS, Metro Police and the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning need to get their act together.
Correction: ‘Schaapkraal Civic and Environmental Protection Organisation’ should read “Schaapkraal Civic and Environmental Association”. This local civic does amazing work in the PHA.
