Suspect arrested for possesion of dagga worth R1.9mil

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Vaal Rand Flying Squad arrested a suspect for being in possession of R1.9 million worth of dagga.

“At the end of July two members from Gauteng Flying Squad, Vaal Rand, Sgt Phali and Cst Thupa stopped a suspicious White Isuzu LDV during routine patrols on the N3 at Heidelberg. The driver pulled off the road and allowed the SAPS members to search the van. The members found 64 bags filled with dagga in the back of the vehicle. The driver (32), was arrested for possession of dagga and detained at Heidelberg SAPS. He is from Ladysmith in Natal where the dagga is cultivated and was allegedly en route to deliver it in various parts of Gauteng. The street value of the dagga is estimated at R1.9 million. The suspect is expected to appear in the Heidelberg Magistrates Court soon.
