Two brothers were arrested by the EMPD on July 31
The EMPD's Kathorus Crime Prevention Unit arrested a dagga dealer found in possession of 1.2kg of Swazi dagga worth approximately R2 000.
The arrest took place on July 31, in Vosloorus, when metro police followed up on information provided by members of the community.
According to Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, while they were busy registering the docket, the suspects brother walked into the charge office and offered the metro police R1 000 in cash to let his brother off.
“The brother was immediately arrested and is facing a bribery charge, both cases were opened at Vosloorus Police Station,” says Kgasago.
He adds that the siblings are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrates Court soon to face charges of dealing in dagga and of bribery respectively.
