The distinction between hemp and cannabis is not really made on THC content but the physical appearance of the plant. Hemp is cannabis sativa bred into a distinctive strain that has lots of fibre and in return for all the energy spent on growth loses THC.
It is the government that continues to hammer on that Hemp is cannabis without THC but this is not true.
Abraham Lincoln also smoked the hemp that he grew. Jack Herer was the emperor of hemp not dagga or marijuana.
I would also like to point out that THC is not illegal. According to the drug and trafficking act of 1992 all parts of the cannabis (hemp) plant is illegal except for Dronabinol, Tetrahydrocannabinol which is commonly called THC
So what does it matter that genetically modified hemp does not contain THC? THC is legal and irrelevant according to the Drug & Trafficking Act of 1992.
Dagga is also legal for those who believe that these discriminative laws that suppress human development should end. Cannabis is a safer alternative to alcohol and tobacco for many people since 2000 BCE!
In 1870 dagga became illegal for indian workers in South Africa by the time the apartheid era started Dagga was mostly illegal for non whites and by 1961 dagga was illegal for all UN affiliated countries.
We do not call any person who had a partner from another race during the apartheid and was convicted criminals why then do we hold on to dagga prohibition and label people criminals even when modern science indicates that dagga is innoxious less harmless than sugar.
If we jail dagga dealers and users should we jail people who sell tobacco and alcohol as the annual deaths statistics is a clear indicator of the dangers of these legal drugs.
I choose dagga over alcohol and tobacco. How about you?
