← NO GMO South Africa: Just one more small question can you please tell us what the permitted % required by your company is and does that mean there is a potential for being not entirely free of GMO's? Mexicorn: Hi, it is a legislation (not company stipulated) that the labs and testing bodies use. Not sure exactly what the permitted % is off hand, but that info is publicly available (it differs in each country). I think its between 97 and 99% but if you cant find out let me know and I will escalate this as a technical query. But to answer your second question as best as I technically can: Yes there is always a possibility of a small % of cross contamination in silos. As you will know, in order to make a declaration like "GMO FREE CORN" one needs to be able to qualify one`s claim with the tests at accredited facilities. We are HACCP certified, so it would be part of our testing criterion that we are audited on. 13 years ago we became the first chip going to the trouble of switching over to NON GMO CORN. If we may blast that trumpet (For us there was no choice, after the horrific carcinogenic findings of the Monsanto gm corn tests- now banned in some countries) This was before it even mattered to most. Now there are more choices, bu please let us know if you know about any other GMO Free corn chips. I think they are rare even in the US. I really hope that us doing our little bit, gives you enough clarity to make an informed decision. Thanks so much, we really appreciate your interest.
